EBay affiliates will be required to move their affiliate links over to the eBay Partner Network by May 1st, 2008. Ebay is a large company and i don’t know why they took so long to have their own in house affiliate network.

All the great tools and benefits of working with the eBay program will remain the same – access to the Editor Kit and affiliate API, the flexible destination tool, the great payout structure. In addition, the eBay partner network will provide several new features:

* Easy global registration to multiple countries simultaneously
* New, targeted banners and rich media creatives
* New landing page optimization and geo-targeting capabilities
* More detailed reporting capabilities for eBay’s programs

Is this a good move by Ebay?
What will the future hold for CJ?

I have put it up on the left sidebar, and hopefully will earn me a few bucks.

PayDotCom allows vendors to sell their products through its marketplace, and affiliates can promote products in the marketplace and earn between 5-80% commissions. Payments are paid monthly through PayPal.

To put the widget on your Wordpress blog or any blogging platforms is easy. You first select the categories from which to promote with your widget. You then choose the widget template best matches your blog’s theme, there are 18 different color templates to choose from. After you have done that, copy and paste the generated code onto your blog’s sidebar.

You can sign up to Pay Dot Com for free and start selling your products or promote someone else’s products using the widget.

1st February sees the launch of San Diego-based V2P Communications NetAudioAds beta. This is a new type of advertising medium called Pay per Play that will automatically play a 5 seconds audio every 3 minutes when a visitor lands on a blog or Web site, providing the site has the PPP code inserted. With over 9 millions websites and 24000 affiliates signed up since December 7th, so things seem to be going well before the launch.

How does it work?

As publishers you can sign up for the free service and NetAudioAds will then lines up advertisers, who bid on rates they will pay to have their ads played on a given blog. Bids generally start around $.014 per play or a $14 CPM that will be marked up to $.02 or $20 CPM and publishers will get paid on the spread. The spread is the difference between $.014 and $.02 or $.006 ($6 CPM). So if your site or blog has 1000 unique visitors a day with advertisers bidding $14 per 1000 plays, would earn you a cool $3.5. With direct referrals you’ll get 5% and a further 5% from their referrals.

Will this work?

I don’t think so. Personally I would run out of any sites which have auto playing video or audio. So 5 seconds of audio is not that much, but imagine yourself surfing 10 sites and 8 of those sites run NetAudioAds. That would annoy the hell out of anyone. I wouldn’t run NetAudioAds on my trusted sites, since I don’t want to drive my readers away, but I might be tempted to try it on my made for adsense sites to test it out. If you don’t want to hear the audio twice, just get out of the website or blog you were on before the 3 minutes are up .

Affiliate marketing is one of the best things that you can do in you spare time. You are not required to sell something anytime and with little know how in internet will really get you places in affiliate marketing. In fact some even opted to quit their job and concentrate on affiliate marketing once they noticed they are earning more in this industry. The lure of being freelance, more time for yourself and with great money is very tempting.

However, as high as the promises of affiliate marketing can give you as low as it can do to you if you decide to do it full time. Of the common pitfalls that you will encounter of course are scams. With so many programs that you can sign up, there are those that promises you great bucks but in the end you’ll end up with less than what you expect. Worst, you may have signed up with an affiliate marketing program that asks for upfront money before you can join their affiliate program.

So aside from affiliate marketing that asks for money, what are other affiliate marketing opportunities that you should watch out?

Too good to be true – there are affiliate programs that promises you a very high percentage on commission. There are legitimate companies that will even give you as much as 80% of the actual price and recurring commission as long as your client uses the software consistently. However, what you need to watch out are those that promise you too much…more money, more percentage (95%? No way!). You will spend a lot of time marketing their tools, services and wares but in the end you’ll get something that’s next to nothing. To avoid this, read the fine lines and guidelines on how to do them.

Really Big Ones – To be part of the affiliate marketing, you need to place some banners in your website. They will give you special codes to identify you whenever there’s a sale that comes from your website. However, you need to look out for the banners that are really big, you won’t even have the chance to place something’s discernable there. As a marketer, your website should look good and professional so that people will try out the wares that you promote. It will look bad on your website when almost half of your page will say “Click Here! Buy Now!”

Lastly is the practical one, join forums dedicated to affiliate marketing to get the latest news on this business. Most of the time, you can create contacts and people will tell you which ones good and which one’s bad. Since most of the forums are honest to goodness, you can never have a bad advice as long as you ask the right question. You can even create contacts where you can expand your business for some time.

Affiliate marketing is a great option as the development of this program will be at your own pace. Just make sure you read the fine lines and be updated with the trends to get what you are supposed to have and expect in this business.
