Blogging is a popular trend these days, so popular in fact that even people who do not know what to write in their blogs actually have blogs. While this common internet practice has its perks, there are also several drawbacks that make blogging a second-rate activity. Stated below are ten of the top reasons why anyone who blogs either for business or for personal purposes should think twice about blogging.

Writing is not for everyone, and it takes up much time. Blogging involves a lot of writing, and if you’re someone who neither has the skill nor the time to write, then keeping a blog would be futile.

Hiring a blog writer can be expensive. If you can’t write and you’re planning of hiring the services of a blog writer, think again. These costs can quickly add up each month.

It often becomes an emotional venue. There are a lot of excellent blog writers around. However blogging could sometimes end up being a way to vent your emotions to the world, and as a result your privacy could be in jeopardy.

Personal information over the web may be unfavorable. Dishing out too many personal details about your self could be more harmful than beneficial. You may become more well-known, but not necessarily to the right group of people.

You have very limited control with your blog site. Since most websites offer blogging services for free, they typically maintain over the blog sites and the files therein such as posts, videos, audio, and photos.

Your online business won’t be taken seriously. If you have a mere blog site for a business site, this may create an unfavorable impression towards your potential clients. Having a professional website means you are ready for serious business.

There is always the risk of account deletion. Owing to the fact that most blog sites can be created and maintained for free, and as a result the websites hosting the blogs have major control over the accounts, these same accounts can be deleted without prior announcement or further explanation.

Limited number and designs of templates. Most blog sites only have very limited varieties of templates. You may like the design of one only to find out that it is not able to upload good-sized photos or allows for only very little editing. With a blog, your creativity may be stifled to a huge degree.

A blog can be hard to maintain. If you do not update your blog with new posts on a regular basis, then your audience will stop dropping by your blog site.

People don’t usually prefer long blog posts. While bloggers tend to get carried away and write lengthy posts, not everyone will have the luxury to read them. The attention span of internet audiences are generally quick and short, so long winding writing does not usually merit their preferences. That is, except when you’re already famous and everyone wants to hear about everything you have to say.

Blogging requires the right combination of skill and patience, and if you’re someone who doesn’t have the heart for it, then this online endeavor may not be for you.

In the usual sales environment a blog can be very useful as it can be used a devoted way to help sell a single product or a range of various products. If you operate a sales orientated web site, you can use an additional, associated blog, to aid with your sales strategy.

Blogs offer the ability to add new products very quickly, and they are far more useful for reaching new potential clients than traditional sites. All you need is the goods and a way of taking payment. Blogs climb up search engines far faster than traditional sites, so this is a good option if you are just getting started.

Blogs are designed to be updated very quickly indeed, unlike a traditional site that may need formatting and a new page layout; a blog can have added content in just a few clicks of the mouse.

There are dedicated blog directories that can offer a higher page rank link than traditional site directories that have been nearly all been sidelined by Google, over the last few months. This will give you a better ranking than you would receive with a traditional site.

Blog entries that are submitted to blog related sites such as StumbleUpon or Digg will be listed on Google, often within hours; this is not possible with a regular site.

Blog sites offer free templates and hosting which can save a small fortune, especially if you are planning multiple new sites. You will not need to employ anyone to design the site as the options are already available, with very simple to use tools allowing you to create the template.

Blogs have a greater ability to market themselves than regular sites, as they climb search engines much easier, making them far more cost effective.

It is also easy to set up an RSS feed that will make your blog entries available to anyone who wants to read them , without the need for them to remember to visit your blog to see if its been updated.

There are so many reasons why a blog now wins over a regular site for any small business needs.

Around 95% of all new small businesses fail within the first two years. For some reason many people do not believe that, the same principle applies to blogs. Over half of all new blog start-ups are given up within the first three to four months. So with that in mind why do some blogs go on to be successful while others fail miserably?

Being a highly productive blogger is an absolute essential if you are to stand any chance of your blogging business succeeding. Starting with lots of pent-up enthusiasm and writing four of five posts a day is very useful. I write between 5 – 10 posts a day on my Geek and Gadgets blog, but for niche such as Make Money Online, one post a day is good enough, or a minimum of 3-4 posts a week. The key here is to be consistent with your blogging frequency.

However, if you then lose this enthusiasm and begin to slowly reduce the number of posts you are making until you are only providing new content once or twice a week is bound to end in disaster. If you are not confident that you can continue to provide new posts on a regular basis there is no point in even beginning a blogging business.

If you do not have sufficient time to dedicate to your blog they can never succeed, if you only have part of the necessary time available, you need to consider if you can afford to employ a blog content provider.

If you are not passionate about the subject that you are blogging about, this will soon start to show in the quality and length of your blog posts. This lack of interest will soon manifest itself in low visitor numbers.

It is essential that you are enthusiastic about your chosen subject, not only for the first few weeks, but also on a permanent basis. If you are not enthusiastic and interested in the subject, your readers will soon start to realize that you lack commitment and drift away from your blog.
The moment that your blog becomes a chore, and you stop looking forward to your next entry, that is the point where you will probably begin to fail in your blogging business.

Providing truly unique and original content can be a rewarding and stimulating. Totally original content also means that they cannot be read anywhere else; this in turn means that people can only find it on your blog. If there is nowhere else to read this interesting and original work then this should give you a high volume of traffic.

You should also make note of what seems to interest your readers, if certain subjects simulate the most comments then those are perhaps the areas where you should concentrate a lot of your effort. Giving the people what they want has always been a sure fire way to business success.

Article-writing is more than just writing articles. For an internet marketer, article-writing is a tool that can bring about success in a business venture, assuming, of course that the article is well-written.

How can you say that an article is well-written or not? For one, a well-written article is something that can effectively reach the hearts of its intended readers. This means that the article is able to empower or to make a difference of some sort. The net is filled with millions of articles; sadly, however, not every one of them is able to accomplish the end results by which it is written in the first place.

There are many possible causes why some articles make it, while many others don’t, and one of these is that the article may sound just a bit too technical for your readers (especially a beginner at that) to comprehend. If your readers cannot immediate grasp what you are trying to point out, he/she will easily lose interest. Do not therefore bore your readers with long sentences and technical words that only you can understand. When writing an article, avoid using complex words. Instead keep your words simple and easy to take in. Using flowery words may not be appropriate in article-writing, so try to avoid this, too.

Some articles are written without passion, and in cases like this, the message can not be effectively sent across. Writing from the heart is crucial in coming up with a best-selling piece. This means you have to know, in great depth, what you are writing about. A goal in article-writing is to sound convincing, and you can not be convincing if you do not know much about the topic you are writing about. If you are lukewarm about a certain topic, do not write about it just yet. Equip yourself with enough materials first. One way of doing this is to do a lot of research on that topic.

To be able to write effectively, you may also need to read a lot. The more you read, the more topics you become familiar with, and the more articles you can write. This way, you will save yourself from losing interest in writing topics from the same genre all the time. What’s more, you get to learn more things in the process!

Remember that writing articles may not always come easy for every writer — not even with all these suggestions and tips to help you get around. If you find article-writing difficult, do not worry. It may usually take some time and a lot of practice in order to get the hang of it. Keep in mind that practice does make perfect, so develop your writing skills by writing often and also by getting people to comment on your writing. Asking people to see your work is an excellent way of finding out which areas you need to improve on. As time goes by, writing articles will become second nature to you, and you may be able to do it even with your eyes closed.

Perhaps, you are one of the many promising writers out there who write simply for the fun of it, or maybe you are of the other type who writes articles as a way of living. Regardless, however, of whether you do it for pleasure or for money, one thing is almost certain: there is a message that you want to get across.

Unfortunately, not every writer, no matter how gifted he may be, can effectively achieve this end, and here are some possible reasons why.

When it comes to writing articles, choosing an interesting topic is essential. However, there is something more important than coming up with an interesting topic: you, as writer, must be knowledgeable about the particular subject you are going to write about in the first place. This is what many writers do not realize — they put more emphasis on the topic itself rather than on being able to sound convincing and this is just wrong. Remember that an article that is effectively written will always bring about change and this can not be done if you do not write from your heart at all. Furthermore, by being familiar with the topic, you can give your article life or what is called the necessary “oomph” so that it will appeal to the readers. So read, read, and read, and do a lot of research if you have to. By reading a lot as well as by doing a lot of research, you will be able to learn a variety of topics by heart. Do not limit yourself to a single genre. You will be surprised that there are so many topics you can actually write effectively about.

Spelling errors and wrong grammar are definite turn-offs, and these are reasons, too, why some articles get junked; so spare yourself the trouble and avoid these. Assuming that you have an interesting topic and are very well-versed at it; you would still need to be cautious and use correct spelling and grammar all the time. Your article may be well-researched and may have relevant content, but too many spelling and grammatical errors in it can easily turn off your readers. Well-written articles should always come out clean — meaning, they must be free of any kind of errors. Before submitting your article, proofread it carefully. If you have a spell-checker, use it to your advantage.

Now, you are ready to have your article published. Use the internet so that it works to your benefit. The internet is one avenue by which you can distribute your work to a large group of people, and you can even do this for free. Indeed, there are many websites you can use to attract potential readers, and one such site is Ezine Articles, but if you really want to market your articles effectively, you should use Article Marketer.

By knowing the reasons why some articles are less likely to be read than most, you can avoid making the same errors. Also, by taking all these suggestions in mind, writing effectively may just be a breeze.
